Peppermint!Peppermint…some people associate this scent and flavor primarily with the holidays. Candy canes and peppermint concoctions are in our near future as the winter holiday season quickly approaches.

To me, however, peppermint is not just defined by a season.  In fact, I don’t know what I would do without it.

I primarily use peppermint in the forms of sugarless gum, Avalon Organics body lotion, and Whole Foods essential oil. And I use it a lot.

I use peppermint lotion to wake myself up in the morning while I’m putting on my makeup. I also use it to give myself a quick neck/facial massage when I feel a headache, nausea, or congestion coming on. Sometimes I even use it as a pick-me-up if I am feeling down. I chew peppermint gum to wake myself up while I’m driving or working. Chewing peppermint gum also often helps me with indigestion or nausea.

Peppermint is labeled as an antibiotic and antiseptic. In his Hydrotherapy text, RJ Nikola lists peppermint essential oil as a possible therapy for the following conditions: acne, asthma, dermatitis, headaches, migraines, nausea, neuralgia, sinusitis, depression, and mental fatigue.

See why peppermint is my favorite? Here’s to holiday peppermint and to peppermint for all the seasons!
